Questions - Captain America (2009)

Who do you think would be a good Captain America? Why?

We've been hearing strong rumors that it will be either "Two-Face" Aaron Eckhart (who we love) or Brad Pitt (who we also totally enjoy, and who hasn't ventured into the comic universe yet - Cool World doesn't count.)

We've also heard Val Kilmer, and non-Americans Hugh Jackman, Karl Urban, and Daniel Craig. We like all these guys but we admit to having a special fondness for Urban, a Kiwi who y'all may know from LOTR and who made frequent guest appearances on our favorite TV show back in the day, Xena: Warrior Princess.

We don't know if Hugh and Val should double dip though...it seems like one superhero per actor is a good idea. Plus, we've been digging when newcomers play the main characters like in Superman Returns.

PS. We're not quite sure but we're also hearing that it may be Torchwood star, gay British actor, John Barrowman.

PPS. As a strong supporter of gay rights, we we're pointing out the difference between Barrowman and the character, which is why we also mentioned that he was British. We mentioned the differing nationalities of the other actors rumored to be up for the role as well and have in other recent posts commented on the differences between comic book characters and the actors slated to play them (see race, haircolor, nationality.) Also, John Barrowman's sexual orientation has been made hugely public as of recently - specifically in relation to Captain America. Please keep comments relevant and educated or they will be deleted. Unlike other blogs, we don't cater to inapropriate or offensive comments just to get ratings.

PPPS. Has anyone ever seen Torchwood? While Barrowman is cute enough, the show boasts the worst plots/acting on television.

John Barrowman has an American accent. He moved to the United States from Scotland when he was eight years old. His parents live in Florida. He lives with his husband in London and Cardiff, Wales.
