Websites We Love: SurLaLune Fairytales

The web's premiere folk and fairy tale site -- SurLaLune -- is one of our faves and an amazing reference for any writer.

We love the easy story access, illustration galleries, and forums. It also makes us want to get our own merchandise lined up stat!

Questions: Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV Shows

What is your favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Irrealism-themed television show? Why? Have two that are duking it out? An honorable mention? Let us know!

PS. We love a lot of them with Xena: The Warrior Princess our reigning fave and Joss Whedon's Firefly a new obsessive classic.

News - Living In Sewers: Colombia

This video from CNN.com saddens us to our very core.

Homeless adults and children, living in the sewers of Bogota, Colombia, are pursued to this day by death squads looking to perpetrate a social cleansing.

The filmmaker says he wishes to open the eyes of native Colombians to what is happening beneath their very feet.

Websites We Love: Simpsons Movie

Create your very own downloadable Simpsons avatar at The Simpsons Movie official site. Dress 'em up and have 'em walk into Moe's bar and other Springfield landmarks.

We made several and we have to say, we look pretty hot in yellow.

PS. The one above is of us. :D

New Role For Radcliffe

Harry Potter's Daniel Radcliffe stars as Rudyard Kipling's son in My Boy Jack. The TV movie is due out on November 7th -- we expect it to do well. But beware -- it's about the famed author's search for his 17-year-old son who went MIA during the Battle of Loos -- we hear it will be a tearjerker.

PS. See more photos here.

Cuteness: Capers The Baby Otter

We couldn't help but post this one. Seriously. OMG.

PS. While you're there check out 'Otters Holding Hands'.

News - AMC And Warner Bros. Spy On Moviegoers

This article is one of those things that scares the bejeezus out of us. Warner Bros. has apparently contracted agents to use night vision goggles to spy on moviegoers who have paid to see The Invasion. It is supposedly an effort to curb piracy.

We don't buy it. Anyone with a lick of sense knows that leaked trailers and film clips serve only to whet the public's appetite.

We are so anti-Big Brother. Never give up your freedoms.

"I believe there are more instances of the abridgment of the freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments of those in power than by violent and sudden usurpations." ~ James Madison, speech, Virginia Convention, 1788

News - WWII Pilot Found On Glacier

Way interesting news -- hikers in Kings Canyon National Park, outside Fresno, found the body of a WWII pilot frozen high in the Sierra Nevadas. How amazing is that? The military believes it can identify the man, the second found in the area where not more than 100 feet away another pilot was found in 2005, as the second member of the crew of a plane that crashed in a blizzard on November 18, 1942 (our birthday!)

The snow pack this year was about 60% less than normal. Basically, Global Warming is uncovering the past for us. Still...

We hope that he is identified and that it brings closure for his family after so many years.

PS. The picture is of a parachute found in the area, wedged between rocks.

McAvoy Is 'Scotty' in Star Trek Prequel

The Last King of Scotland's James McAvoy has been cast as 'Scotty' in upcoming Star Trek prequel. Great choice! We love this dude!

PS. He was the only character we liked in The Chronicles of Narnia too, Mr. Tumnus. And for you ubernerds, he was in Children of Dune.

Websites We Love: Who's Your Celebrity Look-Alike?

Find out who's your celebrity doppelganger. MyHeritage has a face recognition program: upload a photo of you or of a friend, wait for the program to scan through its database, see who you look like.

Occasionally, you'll get someone whose head is tilted at the same angle yours is but other than that it's pretty neat. Be prepared to get a wide range of celebrities: living and dead, male and female.

We were usually flattered but every once in a while...yikes.
